OVERVIEW

Acting as the Construction Manager and HVAC contractor, JDP Mechanical partnered with Ruben Companies to replace the chiller plant, cooling tower, and building management systems at One Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza.

The project required the demolition of the entire plant and cooling towers. The new, four-cell cooling tower was broken down into many small sections and re-assembled on site on the 50th floor.

In order to get the building back online, JDP had to rig in a total of four chillers – two electric drive chillers and two steam drive absorption machines. New electric power was fed from the basement up to the 15th floor MER. New chilled water, condenser water, and steam mains were installed and connected to the new equipment.

A new building management system was also designed and installed.
